Merry Christmas!

I was super busy all of December. Between waiting tables, substitute teaching and being some what in charge of our Christmas Eve service at church. I didn't take nearly enough of pictures but this was our Christmas season in a nutshell.

November Month-a-versary & A Sweet Surprise

On Sunday, I went to visit my cousin, best friend and 5 year-old-niece. I was gone all day long and the day before my husband and I had had a small disagreement. When I got home on Sunday night this is what I found.

I love it when I come home to surprises like this. Such a great husband! Happy 35 Months Baby!

A Story Of Survival

I recently had a lovely women by the name of Heather reach out to me about her survival of mesothelioma, a rare form of cancer. Heather told me that her diagnosis was in November, and every year around that time she gets what she calls the “November Blues.”  Because of this she created “30 Days of Thankfulness” where she acknowledges something in her life that she is thankful for every day throughout the month. This year she is reaching out into the blog world to help raise awareness of this disease.

I can't imagine what she went through to battle this disease, I know it was probably the hardest thing she has ever done. I applaud her for fighting and allowing it to make her stronger instead of losing all hope. I wanted to help Heather raise awareness of mesothelioma, just in case someone is reading this who is dealing with what she went through, so maybe we can provide them with a little bit of hope.

This is her bio as taken off her website:

"In 2005, at the age of 36, and only three months after giving birth to my beautiful daughter Lily Rose, I was diagnosed with pleural mesothelioma. Upon learning of this life-altering diagnosis, my husband Cameron and I embarked upon a search to find the best mesothelioma treatment care available. Our search eventually led us to Dr. David Sugarbaker, a renowned mesothelioma surgeon at the Boston based Brigham and Women's hospital.

Today, I am a seven-year mesothelioma cancer survivor and have made it my mission to help other mesothelioma victims around the globe. I share my personal story to help spread hope and awareness for others going through this, in hopes that one day no one else will have to."

Heather and her family

If you would like to learn more about mesothelioma here is an informational website.

I also want to add what I am thankful for to go along with Heather's "30 Days of Thankfulness." I am thankful that God has given this wonderful woman a chance to spread the word and change lives about this disease. I am thankful for the health that God has granted me and my family, along with all that he provides daily in our lives.

Congratulations on being a 7 year cancer survivor Heather!

6 Years Together

On November 11, Bobby and I have been together for 6 years. We have had a lot of downs, but mostly ups. I don't have any pictures from our first date, but I have lots of pictures from our 6 month anniversary. We went to the Tyler Rose Garden, it was gorgeous!

Marriage Isn't For Me

The title of this post doesn't mean what you think it means. I ran across this post on Facebook the other day and wanted to share it. It is perfect description about how marriage has nothing to do with yourself.

October Month-a-versary (34 months)

Our month-a-versary this month was awesome. It was just what we needed. As of October 19th we have been married 34 months and they have been wonderful. But lately we have both been super busy and haven't had much time for each other. I'm sure most people are like, "It just feels that way." But I am dead serious when I say we have barely seen each other. I have started substitute teaching so between that and still workings at Chili's, which I do both in one day a couple times a week, and planning our church's trunk or treat extravaganza for Halloween, I am exhausted all the time. I am in bed by 9:30, if not earlier most nights (unless I'm waiting tables), and Bobby is at school all day and then goes to bed super late. We even get up at different times since I normally have to be at the schools before 8 am. We literally have really only seen each other at dinner times the past few weeks and on Sundays.

Because of all the stuff above, this month-a-versary became special to me. Bobby didn't even think we were going to do anything this month, but after church this morning I surprised him with an us day. We went and ate at our favorite sandwich shop and just sat and talked to catch up with each others lives. After that we had some time to kill before we went to a movie and I needed some new flats for substituting so we went shopping. This took almost no time; as soon as I went in I found some cute ones and they surprisingly had my size. We were in and out in 10 minutes.

Because we still had so much time to kill, we decided to go to Home Depot so Bobby could look for something that he needed. We didn't find it, but I had a wonderful time looking at the hard wood floors and granite counter top options. I am currently obsessed in designing our future home that won't come into being for probably another 10 years. On the bright side I found the perfect 3rd anniversary gift for him that I will have to go back and get!

After Home Depot we still had about an hour to kill so we went to Barnes & Nobles and looked around. I found some awesome cook books and craft books that I have to get at some point!

Finally, it was time for our movie. We went and saw Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs 2, it was super cute and funny. My favorite part though was anything with Barry the Strawberry in it!

It was wonderful day, even if we did have to make a small grocery shopping detour. Happy 34 months babe, I love you!

I'm Related To A Queen!

This past Friday was homecoming for my high school alma mater, which also happens to be the place one of my younger sisters is a senior at. She was nominated for homecoming court and won queen!

Some of the picture are a little blurry but I am so excited for her!

How To Be A Godly Wife Link Party

Something that is very important to me is to be a Godly wife. To love, honor and obey my husband. Just like everyone else i'm not perfect, but I wanted to share some of my favorite posts and places on how to be a Godly wife.

This site is by a woman named Sheila. She is a Christian author and a speaker for women's groups and marriage conferences. To Love, Honor and Vacuum, is an amazing site. She has so much Godly wisdom to impart and while I've only read one of her books (which was great by the way), I can't wait to read more.

This blog post, Being A Godly Wife, was written by another Godly woman who wrote a letter to herself on how to be a Godly wife.

Respect, is something I believe is very important, but is probably my weakest point. This post, is all about how to communicate respect to your husband without even saying a word.

It is a daily struggle to be the wife God wants me to be, but I know with His help I can accomplish it.
