17 Weeks Pregnant!

I was 17 weeks pregnant on February 16th. According to thebump.com, our little Traffic Cone is the size of an onion.

The Baby

The baby's cartilage is turning to bone and the fat is coming in. The umbilical cord is now stronger too.

The baby is 5.1 inches long and weights 5.9 oz.

Me

We decided that we are going to take the Birth Boot Camp class that our birthing center suggested, but trying to decided when to take it has been a little bit of a challenge.

I'm trying to decided if I want to use a Doula as well. I never really imagined using one, but our midwives keep telling us we should and pushing for it. I found one who is reasonable priced, but I'm still not sure.

My stomach and breasts have started itching this week, I just keep lathering on the lotion and trying not to scratch. Still having trouble sleeping without Unisom and the lower back pain is still there. Anytime Bobby tries to massage my lower back, it is so tender that I can't stand it.

I still haven't gained any weight, but I'm sure that will change soon.

The weird dreams are in full swing. The other night before we went to visit my in-laws, I had a dream that my mother-in-law took the guest bathroom toilet to a professional toilet cleaner because we were coming to visit and I was pregnant. She didn't have the toilet cleaner come to house to clean it, no, she took the toilet to the cleaner. That is definitely my weirdest dream yet!

I can feel more movement this week, but only when I am laying or sitting still. The other night and the most distinct movement as of yet. I felt the baby do a flip! I am really ready for Bobby to be able to feel, we have tried a couple of times, but we just aren't there yet.

Well, there is week 17!

16 Week Appointment

We had our official appointment with the Birth Center on March 10th. Bobby didn't accompany me on this appointment. I talked to the person in charge of the insurance and we are trying to get that all worked out. The insurance has been a mess.

Then I met with the midwife, Hope, and we talked and she listened to the heart beat. It was in the 150s, so nice and strong! It took her a really long time to find it, so I was worried there for a minute but everything turned out great.

She did say my protein levels were low and that I need to be aiming to eat 80 grams a day. I haven't hit that yet, that is so much protein.

I still haven't gained any weight, and she said I may even lose weight before I start gaining any, which I would be totally okay with!

It was a really short visit and not much to report, but I am really liking the birth center and the midwives!

We have our anatomy scan and gender reveal on March 11th, can't wait!

16 Weeks Pregnant!

I was 16 weeks pregnant on February 9th. According to thebump.com, the Traffic Cone is the size of an avocado!

The baby can hear my voice and tiny bones are forming in the ears. Hair, lashes and eyebrows are growing as well as state buds.

The baby is 4.6 in long and weights 3.5 oz. I can't wait to find out the gender on March 11. I had my 16 week appointment with the birth center on February 10th, post to come.

As for me I am feeling much better, the throwing up has subsided and only occurs if I go to long between meals. I haven't gained any weight yet, which I'm pretty excited about as that will probably change pretty soon.

I officially need maternity pants but don't have time to get them so the BellyButton will have to do until spring break.

I've started craving salty things. Corn nuts are my favorite, but Bobby can't stand the smell so I can only eat them when he won't be around.

I am still really tired, and having to take Unisom to sleep through the night. My lower back as really started hurting at night as well. And some may think this is TMI, but oh my goodness, the constipation is driving me insane.

I can occasionally feel the baby move at night when I'm trying to go to sleep, nothing super substantial just little twinges here and there. I'm ready for some big stuff!

15 Weeks Pregnant

I was 15 weeks pregnant on 2/2/15. The Traffic Cone is as big as a naval orange!

The baby weighs about 2.5 oz measures 4 inches long and the legs out measure the arms.

According to thebump.com the baby is squirming a lot, but I can't feel it yet. We already new the baby moved a lot because of our first sonogram. Sometimes at night when I'm in bed I think I feel little nudges, but I'm not sure. All the joints and limbs are movable now as well.

As for me, I'm not really sure how I'm feeling. The throwing up has slowed down, but I'm also making sure I'm eating a cracker or two as soon as I get up, and I am eating something every 2 hours or so.

I'm still not really craving anything, but a lot of smells put me off certain foods. It always all of sudden, when I mid cooking it.

I am officially out of my regular pants, they belly button bands have been a life saver, as I'm not big enough for maternity clothes yet. I have heard lovely stories about how awesome maternity pants are, but I am trying to hold off as long as possible because of how expensive they are.  I think I will be ok on tops for a while though which is good.

Today is Thursday, so 15 weeks 3 days, and I fell like I am getting a cold. Sore throat, runny nose, and just not feeling well, I am so glad I had planned to take tomorrow off to go with Bobby to visit his family, because I don't think I would make it through tomorrow. I'm not even sure how I'm going to make it through the rest of today. I really just want to go back to bed.

Some days I feel great and have energy, and some days I throw up and just feel awful. I am hoping I feel ok this weekend, as I have a lot of stuff to get done and we will be at my in-laws.

We switched care providers and will be using a midwife and birthing center that is 2 blocks from the hospital we were originally going to deliver at. We have our first appointment with the midwives this Tuesday. I am also hoping I start to feel better for a long length of time.

14 Weeks Pregnant!

I was 14 weeks pregnant on January 26th and the Traffic Cone is the size of a lemon. We have hit the 2nd trimester!!!

According to thebump.com, the baby is 3.4 in long and weighs 1.5 oz, the weight has doubled in the last week.

The baby is probably sucking their thumb and wiggling their toes. The kidneys are making urine, and the liver and spleen are functioning. The baby is growing lanugo, a thin, peach-fuzz-like hair, all over their body, this will help keep them warm.

As for me my sleeping isn't getting any better, I wake up with some major lower back pain through out the night. I am also still throwing up very often, and I still have no energy. I'm really hoping all this backs off soon. I seem to have the most energy on the weekends when I can wake up on my own, without my alarm clock.

Still no major cravings, but I loath red meat in every form. My clothes are continuing to not fit, but one of my students told me that I was starting to look pregnant this week, which really made my day, as I am very tired of being in the fat phase.

I have been lucky to now have a ton of migraines since being pregnant, but one hit last night and I was in bed and incapacitated by 7pm. I am hoping I don't get another one for a while.

We have switched insurances, since Bobby got his new job, and they cover midwives, so we have an appointment on Friday with a birthing center. I am really looking forward to that.

Well there you have it, 14 weeks! Really hoping week 15 brings energy and a stronger stomach.
