13 Weeks Pregnant

I was 13 weeks pregnant on January 19th and the Traffic Cone is the size of a peach!

According to thebump.com, the baby is about 2.9 in long and weighs .81 oz. The the body has also grown so the baby is closer to the right proportions.

Vocal cords and teeth have started to form, yikes! The baby already has fingerprints and the intestines are moving from the umbilical cord into the tummy.

As for me, my nausea has subsided but the vomiting has increased. If I go more than two hours without eating something, you will find me in the restroom miserably hugging a toilet. Smells are also getting to me. So between throwing up almost every morning, because I never eat breakfast fast enough, the smells of middle school and not eating soon enough after work, the bathroom has been a common place to find me lately.

As far as cravings go, I haven't craved much lately. For me its more that I don't want stuff, such as red meat, the smell really gets to me and I can't handle it.

My clothes are really starting not to fit, I ordered the Belly Button Band, because I had a coupon to get one free and then they had a special buy 1 get 1 for $10. So, I got two, a white and a black. I love it, I can still where my slacks and jeans. I'm thinking these will really help stay in my normal pants for a long time. I'm hoping between these and maxi skirts, they will get me through the school year. Then I can buy some maternity shorts and capris for summer and be good to go. I am going to get some maternity tops though, we got a Target gift card for Christmas that we have been saving for me to use. I'm ok right now, but I'm sure in a month or so that won't be the case.

I'm still not sleeping great, even with the Unisom I wake up at 3 or 4 every morning for a little while. That really puts a kink in my sleep and makes me tired during the day. I have tried staying up later, but I really can't make it past 9 pm. Especially since Bobby has been doing drafting work at night I have no one to keep me up and awake.

Every since we moved into our new house, I have noticed this smell, and I can't figure out what it is. We have changed the air filter but that didn't help, and I know the smell is not helping the vomiting issue. I try to air out the house with open windows as often as possible, but it doesn't seem to make a difference.

Well there is week 13!

12 Weeks Pregnant

I was 12 weeks pregnant on January 12th. I am so close to being out of the 1st trimester, and I cannot wait!

The baby is the size of a plum this week. The average baby is about 2.1 inches long a .49 oz at this point. All the parts are pretty much formed and the main job is to just keep growing.

Most of the critical systems are formed, and the baby is about to enter the growth and maturation stage, where the organs and tissue will grow and develop rapidly. The reflexes are developing and the baby can open and close its fingers curl its toes. The brain is developing really fast as well.

I called my doctor today because of the sleep issues, Bobby and I both need a full night of sleep so we can function. The doctor gave me three different options that I could take to see if they will help. I will try one of them tonight and see if it works.

The dreams are getting more vivid and turning a little raunchy as well, ;). I have really started craving starchy things this week as well. Especially potato soup, which I think I will make tonight assuming I am not super tired after work.

I started throwing up this week. I start coughing so hard that I start gagging which then leads to throwing up. I realized today that it happens exactly 25 min after I brush my teeth. Tomorrow I am going to try to eat something first and then brush my teeth and see what happens. I'm really hoping that is the issue and the throwing up isn't starting 12 weeks in.

I can't wait for my pant extenders to come in so I can expand my wardrobe again, I am down to about two pairs of pants I can wear to work. They should be here by Saturday, hopefully.

I have started to have a pet peeve this week. It is really starting to drive me crazy when people just throw out their opinions left and right, like I haven't done my research and I don't know what I'm talking about. I would never endanger my child, and if the doctor says its ok, I'm going to trust them. I know this will only get worse, but it is driving me crazy this week.

I am really looking forward to getting to the second trimester and getting rid of all this nausea!

1st OB Appointment - 11 Weeks

I had my first OB appointment on January 7th. I wasn't really sure what to expect, but Bobby came to this appointment so that helped me relax. We went in and did all the normal stuff, urine sample, blood pressure, weight all that stuff.

We even got a surprise sonogram. The baby was moving all over the place. We could see the little legs and arms kicking and waving. I can't wait until I can start to feel the movement. The baby measured right on track at 11 weeks 2 days with my due date confirmed for July 27th. The heart beat was 171, which is excellent.

We then met with the doctor and she explained how appointments would go throughout the rest of the pregnancy and certain tests we would want to think about. She was very nice and answered our questions.

Our next appointment is February 10th, and then the next one we will find out the gender. Sometime the during the 2nd week of March!

11 Weeks Pregnant

I was 11 week pregnant on January 5th, this was also my first day back to work from being on our two week break.

The Traffic Cone is the size of a lime and is about 1.6 in long and has a 1:1 head to body ratio. The baby now weights about .25 oz.

Even though I can't see it the baby is moving a lot. The skin is see-through, but is slowly becoming more like a babies skin. The fingers and toes aren't webbed anymore and tooth buds, hair follicles and nail beds are forming.

I was still really tired this week. My breasts were still very sore and my nausea still followed me around every minute of every day. I started having weird dreams this week as well. I normally can't remember them once I wake up, the only thing remember is that it was really weird. I have been craving fruit this week and last week, especially mangoes, strawberries and pineapple. My close are starting to get tight, I can't even wear my slacks anymore. I have ordered something that will hopefully allow me to get back in them.

I have been having sleep issues ever since we moved, I can go to sleep fine but every couple of hours I wake up and can't go back to sleep for another hour or so. I had my first OB appointment this week on 7th, post to come.

10 Weeks Pregnant

I was 10 weeks pregnant on December 29th. I am not sure why thebump.com had to use a prune for this week. I mean look at it, it just looks gross.

The Traffic Cone is about 1.2 inches long and weights about .14 oz. The body length will almost double in the next three weeks.

The baby has working arm joints, the cartilage and bones are forming. All the vital organs are fully developed they're starting to function. Fingernails and hair are starting to appear, and the baby is swallowing and kicking.
I was pretty lazy this week, we just finished moving and I was physically exhausted. I didn't unpack any other boxes and I spend a lot of time with Netflix and How I Met Your Mother.

It was also New Years this week. We didn't really have any plans, since we had just moved, but some friends invited us to go with them to their friends house and we had a nice time. We didn't make it to midnight though, we were both out by 11:30 pm.

My nausea was better this week, but I was still very tired. At this point I hadn't talked to Bobby yet, and we still weren't on the same page as far as supportiveness goes, so I was still pretty emotional on that level

This was my last week of break until school came back in session.

9 Weeks Pregnant

I was 9 weeks pregnant on December 22nd. This was the first day of Christmas break, so I was pretty much on cloud nine. I slept late and did absolutely nothing all day besides watch Netflix, much to the dismay of my Husband. I really enjoyed it.

The Traffic Cone measures around .9 inches and weighs about .07 oz.

This week is a milestone as the baby is longer considered an embryo, but is now a fetus. Facial features are developing and the heart beat may be strong enough to be picked up by a fetal doppler.
I should have been packing those two days leading up to Christmas, but I didn't. I was so tired and didn't feel good at all, so I was pretty lazy those few days, which Bobby wasn't to happy with as he was at work and couldn't do much packing.

We had Christmas this week, and announced the baby to the family. Christmas was really short for us this year because Bobby had to work. We left at around 4 on Christmas Eve and went to my aunt's house as we do every year. We then spent the night with Bobby's family and had Christmas morning and day with them. We left there at around 8 on Christmas Day. So our Christmas was basically 24 hours long.

That Friday I packed a little while Bobby was at work, and then we finished everything up when he got home. If you can avoid it, do not move while your pregnant, it is just way to much work when you are that tired.

We got to bed really late on Friday, and then we were up at 7 on Saturday morning to prepare for the movers. I am so glad we spend the money on movers because moving out of a third story apartment is not an easy task.

Once we got all moved out, my mom and sisters cleaned the apartment for us while we went and met the movers at the house. We then went and ate lunch and my mom and sisters came and helped us unpack. We actually got everything unpacked except the boxes with all the random misc. stuff in them. Which to this day, now mid January, are sitting in what will be the baby's room, still packed. I'll get to it eventually.

Sunday we went back to our home town to pick up a washer and dryer that my brother and his fiance gave us. We are very thankful for that.

We also had to buy a fridge, which we got used, and I will never buy from this person every again. They delivered a day later then they had told us, so we lost a lot of frozen meat. Then the water hose had a whole it in and they haven't come fixed it yet, so we can't use the water from the fridge.

Even though I was on break, it was a very long week for me.

8 Weeks Pregnant

I was 8 weeks pregnant on December 15th.

The Traffic Cone is the size of a raspberry and now weights about .04 oz, measures about .63 inches, and is growing about a millimeter each day.

I can't feel it yet, but the baby is moving like crazy! Fingers and toes are not only slightly webbed, the tail is gone. The taste buds are now forming as well.

The newness has slightly worn off by now for us, and I am getting used to the idea. Finances kind of had me stressed and emotional but other than that I was ok. This was the last week before Christmas break, and boy was I ready. I had the doctor appointment on the 17th and I was ready to get confirmation.

As far as symptoms go, I was really nauseous  this week, to the point where if I wasn't eating I felt like I was going to throw up. I was still really tired as well.

On that Wednesday, the 17th I had my doctors appointment. I just went in and filled out a ton of paperwork, and they took a lot of blood. I had trouble moving my arm the next few days because it was so sore.

Also this week we were trying to get everything together to move. We had found an awesome house, but we had to get utilities turned on, deposits paid, movers scheduled, etc. It was a very long week for me.

On the bright side though, at the end of this week, I got two weeks off!

7 Weeks Pregnant

Well, I am way behind on writing these posts but I will try to steadily catch up.

I was 7 weeks pregnant on December 8th, 2015. We had only found out a few days ago so it was all brand new still. We were looking for a house to rent as well and I was exhausted all the time. Let's just say this was an interesting time for the Gaddis Family.

According to thebump.com, the baby is the size of a blue berry. The baby is .51 inches and is developing like crazy. The Traffic Cone has doubled in size since last week.

The baby is generating about one hundred new brain cells each minute! The brain and heart are being more complex, and a permanent set of kidneys are developing. Arm and leg joints are now forming as well.

At this point I still haven't see the doctor, but I have an appointment on December 17th to do all the blood work and confirm.
As far as my symptoms go, I was really tired, and pretty naseaus 100% of the time. My breasts were very tender, and my face will not clear up around my mouth. I was pretty stressed out and emotional at this point. I was in my first semester as a teacher, and we were nearing Christmas break, so not only was I exhausted from teaching but I was exhausted from growing a human being.

Bobby wasn't being as supportive as I thought he would be, so that caused me some issues as well. But we eventually worked that out, in a post to come.

6 Weeks Pregnant

I was 6 weeks pregnant from December 2nd to December 8th and I found out on the 6th.

According to www.thebump.com, the Traffic Cone is the size of a sweet pea. The average embryo at week 6 is about .25 inches and will double in size again next week. Wow!

As far as symptoms go, for the past two weeks I have had cramping, headaches, backaches, really sore breasts and some serious waves of nausea. I haven't thrown up yet, so fingers crossed that doesn't happen here in the next few weeks. I haven't had much of an appetite, I'll be starving and then I take a bite of food and I just don't want it any more. I am super emotional, and still hasn't totally sunk in yet. I cry at the drop of a hat. I am also totally exhausted, if I stop moving for more than 5 minutes I can just pass out.
I told Bobby last night, after he got home from hunting around 10 pm, so by time we were actually in bed it was around 1 am and then I had to be up for work at 6:00 am. So, I am definitely really tired as I write this.

I am still in utter shock. It was so unexpected, and even though we are both really excited it is a lot to take in. I've only know for three days and I keep having waves of emotion, not the best thing to be happening when I am with 8th graders all day.

Announcing the Traffic Cone to Family and Friends

We decided to wait until Christmas to announce the baby to our families and friends. We did it differently for everyone.

For friends, we posted a picture with stockings over a mantle. It turned out really cute, and I love that it was Christmas time when we got to announce it to everyone. We didn't wait until the 12 week mark like a lot of people though, we were about 9 weeks pregnant when we announced it.

For my family we announced on Christmas Eve at my aunts house.
We waited until everybody was done opening gifts and then
I had my mom and siblings open their gifts all at the same time.

I also got my families on video, although it is mostly just screaming as I didn't get the video on fast enough.

For Bobby's family, since there is already a grand baby we did something a little different. I got Bobby a shirt and he wore it Christmas morning when we were at his parents house. His younger sister Brandie is the one who noticed it.

So there ya have it. It is officially public news!

Announcing the Traffic Cone to Bobby!

I wanted to do something cute to announce the pregnancy to Bobby. Especially since it was a total surprise I knew he probably wouldn't see it coming.

Since Christmas is coming up we had been talking about possible Christmas gifts. One of the gifts Bobby wanted was a new wallet. It just so happens at a Christmas Party I went to, the night I found out, I won a wallet through the white elephant gift exchange. Score!

I decided that were the license would normally go I would put an announcement about the baby.

That way when the opened the wallet to look inside he would see it. I also got it on video, although that kind of threw the surprise off because he got suspicious. He said later that he though it was either a prank or that I was pregnant.

His reaction is exactly what I expected, gotta love my very unemotional husband!

Surprise!

Well this past weekend (12/6/14) Bobby and I got hit with a huge, but good surprise. We're going to have a baby!!!! It is totally unexpected but we are both thrilled...I freaked out there for a second, but I am great now! Well, besides the constant backache, headache, and nausea, that part is not so great.

I was actually two weeks late, but being being 8 or 9 days late is nothing new for me, and I was cramping all the time so we just figured any day now mother nature would show up at our front door. Bobby actually went hunting in Kansas with his Dad and brother over this weekend, so I found out a day before he did.

I went ahead and took a test, because by that point I was 13 days late and there could possible have been drinking at a Christmas party I was going to go to that night and I just wanted to be safe. I really didn't think it would be positive, but sure enough two little pink lines showed up. I went from excited to freaking out in about .2 seconds.

I knew I didn't want to call and tell Bobby over the phone, so I called my best friend instead and we talked it out. I had to wait over 24 hours before I could tell Bobby, I was constantly asking him when he would be home. I'm sure he was very annoyed. I did tell him in a very cute way, which will cover in another post. I even got it on video.

I found a doctor today and when I called to make an appointment they said that they normally don't do appointments until 10 - 12 weeks, which I thought was kind of late. I would think 8 weeks would be a good time for the first visit. I did tell her that I really just wanted it confirmed before Christmas so she got me in a for a nurse visit where she will do blood work to confirm and we can get all the paperwork taken care of. That appointment will be on December 17th. We would really like to make the announcement to our family's when we are down for Christmas, so I am very grateful that she was able to get us in to confirm.

As of today 12/8/14 I am six weeks and six days pregnant. We are so excited!

Oh yeah, I don't really want to call the baby it, so I told Bobby that we should come up with a name to call the baby. He started throwing out all these things that have to do with engineering and some how we landed on Traffic Cone, so baby G's nickname is Traffic Cone.
