Pregnancy #2: 25 Weeks

I was 25 weeks pregnant on January  23rd.

According to thebump.com baby is as big as a head of cauliflower.

The Baby

He now knows which way is up and which way is down and is growing more fat and hair.

He weighs between 1.5 and 2.5 lbs and is between 13.6 and 14.8 in in length.

He is kicking up a storm and really moving all the time. Wednesday night I was laying in bed with Emma watching Moana, and Emma was singing the songs. Every time she would start singing he would start moving. It was so sweet. We had our fetal echo this week and you can see those results here.

The Mama
I started feeling under the weather this week. Emma got a bad cough and gave it to me. I am hoping this is as bad as it gets for both of us.

I had my chiropractor appointment and it was heavenly to get adjusted. The doctor mentioned that she could tell he was low because of how out of wack my hips were and she wasn't surprised I was uncomfortable. They also showed me the exercises I should do daily. They are the same as the ones I did with Emma but I couldn't remember them all: squats and pelvic sways and tilts on the medicine ball. I need to also start doing the daily exercises on the Spinning Babies website to help keep him head down and just start getting ready. Especially since there is a chance he can come early.

We have a date for my baby shower that my sister-in-law will be throwing me. March 17th. I am super excited that she offered, as I didn't think I would be having one. However with all the boy babies being born this year in our family I won't be getting as many hand me downs as I thought. A sweet friend from work is giving me some clothes from his son though which I am very thankful for.

We got the changing dresser moved into the nursery and got Emma some mesh drawers. The goal for this weekend is to get the girl clothes moved to the attic so we can start really organizing and setting up his room.

Even with the adjustment I can't sleep well because he moves so much during the night. I took half of a unisom one night and that helped a lot, but I don't like taking them every night.

I am having a lot of the same symptoms at this point as I did with Emma, except I can breath this time around because he is really low.

Emma and I both have the crud this week, horrible cough and congestion. Emma ran a fever all weekend, but I'm pretty sure its due to an ear infection so off to the doctor we go on the 29th. The sickness on top of the results of the fetal echo we had have made for a pretty stressful week.

This week he is the size of a double cheeseburger.

Pregnancy #2: 24 Weeks and Midwife Appointment

I was 24 weeks pregnant on January 16th.

According thebump.com the baby is the size of a cantaloupe.

The Baby

His skin is becoming less see-through and he is starting to get a pink glow.

He is still between 10.5-11.8 in long and weighs between 12.7 -20.8 oz. (1.5 lbs last week)
His heartbeat at the appointment was in the 150s and he was measuring right on track.

The Mama
The aches and pains are coming back, so I am pretty sure he has dropped again. I have a chiropractic appointment next week that I am looking forward to a lot. He is really low as that is where I feel 99% of the movements, but I can go from sitting with no need to use the bathroom, to standing and thinking I'm not going to make it. I guess when I stand he drops down on to my bladder. The other day we got home from work and Emma was being really slow and all "I do it" about getting out of her car seat, but I had to pee really bad. I told her "Hurry up,  I have to go potty because brother is jumping on my bladder!" She looked at my belly and said "Stop brother, not nice." Haha, I couldn't stop laughing.

I haven't been able to sleep well again because I prefer my left side or back, but those positions he moves a lot. If I lay on my right side he won't move at all, but my hip starts to hurt.

I went this weekend to look for some maternity slacks and Motherhood Maternity, because I am over the ordering and returning and was just going to shell out the money. However, none of their pants have pockets so the pantie lines are horrible. Who designs pants without pockets? So, I ordered from Old Navy and I'm hoping the 100th time is the charm.

The Midwife Appointment
I have gained about 13lbs so not bad at this point, especially with just getting over the holidays I feel good about this. I had gained 10 with Emma at this point. My blood pressure is good so no signs of pre-eclampsia. I saw the head midwife, which I was excited about because I had a lot of questions about delivery and if anything would change based on the possibility of down syndrome. She said delivery would not change and that I could still have a water birth as long as I didn't get pre-eclampsia (hopefully the low dose asprin does it's job!). With Emma I started having blood pressure issues at 28 weeks.

The app that I use to take these pictures (Photofy) added some new stickers related to food so I am adding in those. This is the size coffee that I need to get through the day but can't have.

Pregnancy #2: 23 Weeks

I was 23 weeks pregnant on January 9th.

According to thebump.com our baby is as big as a grapefruit!

The Baby

He is between 10.5-11.8 in long and weighs between  12.7-20.8 oz. (We actually had a specialist appointment on this day and he is 1.5 lbs)

He is forming little nipples and his face is fully formed, he just needs some fat on it. He can hear my heartbeat and mine, Bobby's and  Emma's voices. We have a sonogram at every specialist appointment, which I don't like having so many, it is cool to get to see him every month.

The Mama
Back to work this week and with that my energy left. I did get some more on the weekend, but the week was blah. With Emma I was having round ligament pain. This baby I haven't had any, however I do get braxton hicks pretty often, which I never got with Emma until right at the end.

I got into a really good place this week with the possible Down Syndrome diagnosis. God just laid peace on my heart and I have been good every sense. I haven't done much in the nursery as we were waiting to find out what my cousin was having to know what to do with all of the girl stuff and we have to get Emma a new dresser so we can move the changing table into the babies room. Hopefully we will get to that soon.

He must still be high, because my hip/back pain is still pretty minimal and I'm still sleeping pretty well. Weight gain is still right around 10 lbs. Emma has become a little less clingy which has been nice.

Pregnancy #2: 22 Weeks

I was 22 weeks pregnant on January 2nd. According to thebump.com, the he is the size of a Papaya.

The Baby

He is about 10.5 to 11.8 in long and can weight anywhere from 12.7 oz to 20.8 oz.

Now that he has more developed eyes and lips he looks even more like a newborn.

He is sleeping in cycles, about 12 to 14 hours per day. Which totally explains why I haven't been feeling much movement during the day lately. I feel it mostly at night/evening.

The Mama
This was week two of my Christmas break. Bobby went back to work, which threw Emma for a loop and caused some tantrums as she was used to him being home. I had some good energy this week and was able to start on the nursery. This meant packing up all of Emma's girl stuff since we won't need it for this baby.

This baby will not have near as much clothing and stuff as Emma did. This is from newborn to 24 months, includes, shoes up to size 6, socks, hats, bows and a few swaddles and blankets. You really don't need all this for a kid, but I think everyone has to learn that on their own with their first child. I was hoping to hand this down to my cousin who is having a baby, but she just found out she is also having a boy so in the attic they go.

Growing up my brother had three sisters and two girl cousins. No boys anywhere. Poor Emma is about to know how he feels. She has a 10 year old girl cousin, but that age gap is pretty big. She has a 4 year old, 1 year old, 4 month old and one on the way cousin, all boys, plus a brother on the way.

Weight gain still isn't bad, around 10ish pounds give or take. I am having a lot of trouble finding maternity clothes that fit well and it is starting to make me really frustrated, especially when it comes to work clothes. Feeling better overall.

Christmas Day 2017

Christmas morning we always have at our house and we also spend Christmas day there as well. It is very low key and an awesome way to just relax from all the running around that we have done the past month.

Of course after you open everything, its play time!

Pregnancy #2: 21 Weeks

I was 21 weeks pregnant on December 26th. According to thebump.com, the baby is the size of a pomegranate.

The Baby

His digestive system is prepping for the outside world and he is making meconium.

He is about 10.5 inches and 12.7 ounces!

We have a first name, but are still working on a middle name.

The Mama
I had some energy this week and was able to get a lot check off my to-do list. I think had so much energy because I was able to finally sleep through the night and since we are on Christmas break I was able to sleep in as well and recover from the busy month.

Emma is finally excepting and loving her brother. Every night she will tell him good night and kiss him. We told her his name once, but she doesn't remember it.

I guess he moved up some, because the pain in my hips and back is pretty much gone. I also don't feel movement as low as I was.

With Emma I was having a lot of heartburn at this point, but with this baby I have only had it a couple of times.

I was a total slacker and took my picture late, but didn't want to skip a week.

French Christmas 2017

Since Emma's second Christmas we have done Christmas Eve with my family and then come home to have Christmas day at our house. So this is Christmas Eve. My cousin just moved in a house that is awesome for entertaining so we coerced her into hosting Christmas eve since her house is in a central location. It worked out really well.

I also realized I need to take way more pictures of everything going on.
