Almond Scones Recipe

Almond Scones
Scone Ingredients:
3 cups all-purpose flour
1/3 cup sugar
5 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1 cup butter, chilled
1 large egg
3/4 cup half and half
1/2 tsp almond extract

Icing Ingredients:
1 cup powder sugar
5 tbs milk
1/2 tsp almond extract

Scone Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350 F.
2. In a large bowl, stir together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. (I used my kitchen aid mixer).
3. Cut the cold butter into small pieces and cut/blend into the flout until the mix resembles crumbs (used my kitchen aid).
4. Mix the egg, almond extract and half and half together. Add to the flour mixture.
5. Stir together until just combined.
6. Put the mixture on a cutting board, if the dough is crumbly don't worry about it. Push the mixture together with your hands, but don't knead or press too hard.
7. With a rolling pin, gently roll into a 10" round about 3/4 of an inch thick.
8. Cut into 16 slices.
9. Put on a lined or non-stick baking sheet and bake for 15 minutes.
10. Cool completely before icing.

Icing Directions:
1. In a small bowl mix powdered sugar, milk and almond extract until well blended.
2. Pour over cooled scones.

I love cooking in my crock pot, especially since I found these handy-dandy liners that make cleaning a breeze! I have found so many yummy recipes that allow me to put food on in the morning and come home to a yummy home cooked meal, with minimal cleaning! Awesome sauce!!

This is one of our recent crock pot recipes that we love! Baked Potato Soup from Cooking Classy.

Slow Cooker Loaded Potato Soup | Cooking Classy

The only downside to any baked potato soup is the lack of protein. Yes, there is bacon topping but it doesn't provide enough protein for your meal. The next time I make it, I think I'm going to add some ham to get that meat in there.
