Emma: 18 Month Well Visit

Emma had her 18 month well visit on Friday, February 3rd.

Here are her stats:

  • Weight: 23 lb 12.5 oz (66%)
  • Height: 32 inches (56%)
  • Head Circumference: 47.6 (83%)
I had a feeling that she had had a pretty big growth spurt because in December her 18 month clothes were still pretty big on her and by mid January her 18 month shirts were tight. Her pants still seem to fit pretty well.

Some things that I wanted to talk to the doctor about were:

  • Potty Training - I want to start this summer after Amber's wedding, so mid June. I am looking for guidance at the best/easiest way to do it.
    • The doctor said the best way is to just jump all in. Pick a week we can be home a lot, put her in panties and go for it. However, the week after Amber's wedding Emma will be on her last week of swim lessons, so we will have to wait until those are over.

  • Eye Exams - Bobby wears glasses/contacts so not sure if we need to start eye exams at a certain age, or just wait until she starts complaining about not being able to see clearly.
    • They actually gave her an eye exam and said that will do that yearly so unless there is an issue we should be good.

  • Naps - I hate that her naps are at 11:30. I realize it is a good time for daycare, but at home the time sucks, especially on the weekends because it is right in the middle of lunch time. She isn't sleeping for more than an hour if that at home (at daycare they say she is sleeping 1.5-2 hrs, but I don't believe it). I would really like to get her naps later, at around 1 pm.
    • The doctor said to move it between 1 and 1:30. We did that and it has been so much better, I don't think she gets worn out as fast at home as she does at daycare so 11:30 was just too early.

  • Consequences - we have been dealing with biting and hitting. We have been doing 30 second time outs if she doesn't stop after we tell her no. Some days it seems to work ok and some days it doesn't.
    • The doctor said what we are doing is great. Just be consistent, which is really hard. However it seems to be working.
Overall she is a healthy little lady.

Emma: 15 Month Well Visit & ENT Check Up

Emma had her 15 month well visit and her 4 month post ear tube visit on October 14th. This was technically 2 weeks before she was 15 months old, but I wanted to do them on the same day so I didn't have to take separate days off of work.

First we had her ENT visit. I thought she had an ear infection because there was some drainage coming out of her right ear and sure enough she had one. So two weeks of ear drops. It is always the right ear. This is the 3rd infection since she got her tubes in May.

Then we had her 15 month well visit at 10:00. She is doing great.

Here are her 15 month stats:
  • Height: 30.5 in (58th %) (she goes down a little bit each visit)
  • Weight: 22 lbs 5 oz (70th%) (she goes up a little bit each visit)
  • Head: 18.5 in (86th %) (this also goes up a little bit each visit)
The doctor said she is perfect, her head is a little large, but still perfect. It kind of made me wonder if there is a bump left over from last month.

The doctor was super impressed with her language skills. She mentioned it several times how her language was way beyond an average 15 month old.

She gets a stick every visit and loves to chew on it.

Post shot tears

So thankful for a healthy little girl!

Emma: 9 Month Well Visit

Emma had her 9 month well visit on May 6th.

She is 28 in (62nd %), 18 lbs 14 oz (61st %) and head circumference 17.52 in (67th %)

She had another ear infection which makes six in six months so it was good that we had our ENT visit right after this visit.

Not shots at this visit. Her 1 year visit is at the end of July where she will get shots and blood drawn. She confirmed that she only needs one nursing session at night and agreed with me that the reason she is waking up so much is because her ears hurt. We will definitely start sleep training once the ear infection is gone and summer is here.

She is a very healthy baby.

Emma: 4 month Well Visit

Emma had her 4 month well visit on December 4th, 2015.

She had to get more shots, but calmed down much faster this time. She did get a fever later that day it was around 99, but some Tylenol brought it down pretty fast.

She is growing like a weed:

  • Height: 25 inches long (70th %)
  • Weight: 13 lbs 15 oz (42nd %)
  • Head Circumference: 41 cm/16.14 inches (59th %)

The doctor said we could start pureed fruits and veggies, but we are holding off until closer to 6 months.

She was a very healthy baby, and the Doctor was very impressed with her motor skills. She said she was advanced for her age.

She passed out as soon as we left and slept the whole 2 hour drive out of town.
