Emma: 11 Months Old

Emma turned 11 months old on June 30th. Here is where she is developmentally according to "What to Expect the First Year."

Most babies will probably be able to...

  • She can do:
    • Pick up tiny objects with thumb and finger
    • Understand "no" but not always obey
    • Look at what you're pointing at and then look back at you with a reaction

Half of all babies will be able to...
  • She can do:
    • Walk holding on to furniture
    • Point or gesture to something to get needs met
    • Wave bye-bye
    • Drink from a cup independently
  • She can't yet do:
    • Clap hands

Some babies will be able too...
  • She can do:
    • Stand alone momentarily
    • Say "dada" or "mama" with meaning
    • Respond to a one-step command
  • She can't yet do:
    • Say one word other than "mama" or "dada"

A few babies will be able to...
  • She can do:
    • Play ball (roll ball back to you)
  • She can't yet do:
    • Stand alone well
    • Use immature jargoning/gibberish
    • Walk well (without holding on to something)
    • Say three or more words other than "mama" or "dada"
