Emma: July 2016

Here is what Emma was up to during the month of July.

So Emma's first 4th of July had a kink put in it because of her hand foot and mouth. Even though she was over it and the doctor said she was no longer contagious we didn't visit much family as to make sure no one got sick.

So spur of the moment we decided to get a hotel room on the 1st and then go walk around this huge flea market on the 2nd. This was the first time we have stayed in a hotel with her and bedtime was a little challenging but overall it went great.

I really slacked on documenting and picture taking this month. These are the pictures I took for her birthday party invitations.

This particular day she was being a little ham.

She learned how to clap and wave bye-bye. She will also now say bye-bye.

We noticed that since the beginning of June she could stand by herself but that when she realized she was doing it she would stop. So, we decided to boost her confidence and praise her every time we saw her do it. It started to work. So then we started practicing walking back and forth between us and making sure we praised her, even if she fell. This video is at the beginning of the month and within two weeks she was walking all over the place by herself.

We went to Austin to visit my grandparents, so Emma's great-grandparents, and her great-great-grandmother. She had lots of fun crawling around underneath their table, reading books, crawling in and out of the kiddie pool, and of course getting in to everything. Right before the trip I moved her car seat from the passenger side to behind the driver side and for some reason it has made a huge difference. There has been almost no crying, compared to the constant crying when she was on the other side.

She loves to push stuff everywhere, if it moves she pushes it.

She has also started to try to climb everything. I caught her one day almost all the way up on the fire place. She is trying to explain what she was doing.
She loves cottage cheese, like LOVES it! If I can't get her to eat something, mix some cottage cheese with it and she will gobble it down. It is the only way I can get her to eat oatmeal, and apparently it is great for you skin.

For her 1 year pictures I made a tutu for her smash cake. She loved playing in the tulle while I worked on the skirt.
One of her knew things this month is she loves two blankets that she has. She is teething pretty bad so she likes to chew on them, but she also likes to cover her head with them while she drinks from her sippy cup.
She gets so excited when she is in the car, but not in her car seat. We were waiting on Bobby to meet us one night and she got a kick out of playing with the blinkers.

Our new routine after her afternoon nap, if she takes one, is eating her baby "cheetos" and watching Veggies Tales on Netflix.

Like I said above we have really been struggling with naps. Finding the right nap time to get a good long nap has been a challenge. For most of this month nap time was at 10:15/10:30 and she would take great nap but no afternoon nap. Then all of a sudden the naps go short again. In the picture, we were playing on the air mattress and she just laid down on my arm and went to sleep. It was so sweet. This was one of those days where naps were just every where. By the end of the month we are down to one nap a day most days from 11:40ish to 1:15. This is actually probably good because when she goes back to daycare they will put her down around 11:15.

She loves pulling clothes out of the laundry baskets. She also likes to climb in them, but can't always get out.

She loves to walk everywhere that she can!

She loves playing with boxes, putting stuff in and taking it out and she also loves to be in boxes.

We have started a little birthday tradition of donuts for breakfast. It was her first donut and she loved it once she got over the sweetness. She stuck the whole donut hole in her mouth.

Because Victoria was on a mission trip we had her birthday party on July 31st instead of her actual birthday on the 30th.
