Baby Shower Gift Bundle

A lady at our church is having her second baby boy on Friday. This past Friday she had her baby shower. While I would normally buy something off of her registry, since it is her second boy I decided to go homemade, but practical gifts.

I first made a baby blanket from this pattern. It was super easy and didn't take that long at all. I switched colors every 19th row.

Next, I made some burp clothes. They turned out really well and were so soft! I used this pattern, it is a really easy pattern, perfect for beginners. I think if I ever made them again, I would make them a little wider. I got a 1/4 a yard of the two middle fabrics, 1/2 a yard of the two end fabrics and then 1 1/2 yards plain white for the backs.

Lastly, I made two pacifier clips with left over fabric. I used this pattern, but I didn't do the iron part, except for when I put on the Velcro.

I am really happy with the results! They worked as the perfect gift bundle!

Veggie Faltbread

I love flatbread! But I love it even more when you can make it your own. A few weeks ago I was at my cousin's for dinner and she made this awesome flatbread. I decided to make my own that was similar to hers. This is what I came up with.

Ingredients:
Baby Spinach
Mushrooms
Low Fat Cream Cheese
Purple Onion
Red Pepper Flakes
Feta
Flatbread
Avocado

Let's Get Cookin'
1. Depending on your flatbread you may need to cook it first. For mine, I crisped it up in the oven at 400 for about 5 min. If i didn't do it that way it would get soggy in the middle.

2. Saute your mushrooms, onion, and baby spinach
3. Spread cream cheese on the flatbread

4. Spread your saute mix on the flatbread

5. Sprinkle feta, red pepper flakes and whatever other seasonings you want. I used paprika, cumin, some garlic salt

6. Pop it in the oven at 400 for 5 - 10 min. You really just have to watch it and see how its doing. Some bread suggests you but it right on the oven rack so make sure your check the bag.

7. You could even had some grilled chicken or fish.

Enjoy!

CJ is 3 months old!

A couple of weeks ago I babysat my nephew CJ for a couple hours while his dad was at a job interview. CJ did so great. He got a little fussy when he was fighting sleep but I eventually got him there. He really loved when I sang to him and would just smile, it made my heart melt.

The tummy time lasted about 5 min,
then he started screaming

This is the only real smile I got,
and its blurry :(

This is his "Ok, Aunt Kirstin,
stop with all the pictures" face
I had so much fun getting to hang out with him. He even fell asleep while I was holding him, which never happens. He always seems to prefer someone else. Hopefully it wasn't because I was his only option, lol.

He has gotten so big in such a short amount of time. He can totally hold his head up by himself now with no problems. He is such a cutie!

Just Because Flowers

I love getting flowers from my hubby. They make my day!

A couple of Wednesdays ago I was having a really rough day, and as Bobby left for youth group I cried as he walked out the door because I was going to be all alone. It was just one of those weird days where I got really depressed from being alone, and it didn't help that I hadn't seen him in a week.

He walked in the door after youth with these beautiful flowers!

Happy 4th of July!

The 4th of July this year was great! Even though I had to work the morning of the 4th, I headed to the lake as soon as I got off. I had a full three day weekend off of work which was awesome! I kind of slacked on getting pictures :(.

We had dinner at my mom's that night and then went for fireworks with Bobby's family once it got dark.

Peyton went with us and once we finally got her used to the sparklers she loved them. She did several in a row, she would try to kill bugs with the sparks and she would do this little dance and shake her butt. So cute!

What is the 4th of July without a little firework scare? Garret put a firework upside down and it blew up. The loud boom was more scary than anything but stuff definitely flew.

We had a ton of fireworks and it got pretty late, which meant Peyton got a little cranky. She wouldn't leave Victoria's side and kept getting mad at my flash on my phone.

On Friday night we went to hang out with some awesome friends and had a great time although we probably stayed a little late. Saturday morning we had the annual Enchanted Oaks 4th of July Parade. We had our normal breakfast party and then watched the parade! I wish I had got more pictures!

We left really soon after the parade because Bobby left for camp early the next day. Even though he was home for less than 24 hours it was amazing to have actual alone time after basically not seeing each other for two weeks.

Happy Independence Day!
