Pregnancy #2: 33 weeks and Specialist Appointment, 2nd Fetal Echo and NICU Tour

I was 33 weeks pregnant on March 20th.

According to thebump.com the baby is the size of a Durian.

The Baby
He keeps his eyes open while he is awake so he can see light if it is during the day and bright enough. He can coordinate breathing with sucking and swallowing. (They look for this every week during our scans). His bones are hardening and he is going through more major brain development.

The Mama
I feel pretty good this week, mostly recovered from my surgery and the pneumonia. My lung is still pretty sore in the mornings and I tire easily, but I am pregnant so the tiredness is expected. I did some shopping this week and found some great deals on a few things.

I also really worked on getting the nursery set up, post to come. I had my follow up with my surgeon and while my lung still isn't 100% it is almost there and I should be good by time I go into labor.

The Specialist Appointment
We did a growth scan this week and he is measuring around 4lbs, so write on schedule and all the parts are measuring right at 33 weeks as well.

The Fetal Echo
We had our 2nd fetal echo and it was good news. While it looks like he still has a coart, his heart is growing so there is chance that he won't need surgery, but again we won't know until he is born. They did find some more holes in his heart, but she thinks they will close on their own, if not then he will have surgery between 6 months and 1 year. The cardiologist was really excited about the progress his heart has made since January though which is great.

The NICU Tour
So we were able to tour the two NICUs that he will be staying in. The first called Sweetheart Street is for babies with heart issues and he will be in a private room that we can stay with him. Then we saw the Cardio ICU where he will be after surgery, which is also a private room and we can stay with him. They have a great set up and there is a hospital grade pump in every room so I don't even have to worry about that. The only bad thing is that Emma will not be allowed in because she is not yet 3 years old. They will probably make an exception on surgery day so she can meet him, but it is really up to the nurse.
