Pregnancy #2: 16 Weeks and Midwife Appt

I was 16 weeks pregnant on November 21st.

According to thebump.com, the baby is the size of an avocado!

The baby can hear my voice and tiny bones are forming in the ears. Hair, lashes and eyebrows are growing as well as state buds.
The baby is 4.6 in long and weights 3.5 oz.

The morning sickness still hits in the afternoon, but eating seems to help. I am still very very exhausted all the time. Bobby has had to do most of the cooking and cleaning. On the weekends my energy is pretty much gone by noon.

I had my 16 week midwife appoint on the 20th. Originally I had been told that I had to do an early glucose test because my numbers back in April were 5.7. I didn't really understand since my numbers after I got pregnant, that were taken in October were down to a 5.2 which is perfect. I did convince them to do it fasted, because I know the glucose drink would make me miserable since I have been off sugar for a year. However, when I got there the midwife I saw said that I didn't need it since my numbers were in perfect range at a 5.2. I was starving since I had to come to the appointment fasted. Everything was good, still not weight gain, I actually lost 1/2 a lb. I didn't really gain weight with Emma until the 2nd half and it is my goal to not gain more than 20 this time around. With Emma I gained about 35 I think. The baby is good and the heartbeat was at 156. Even though we aren't finding out the gender I do think it is a girl. We have the anatomy scan on the 15th. The midwives want me to see the OBs since I have a history of Pre-ecclampsia, I don't really understand this because you can't diagnose it through a sonogram, but I said okay. Then I have my next Midwife appointment on the 19th at 20 weeks.

This week was also our Thanksgiving break so I was off work and Emma was out of daycare. Bobby also took the week off. It was a nice week of relaxing and not doing much. For Thanksgiving we went to Oklahoma to a state park which was fun.

I started sleeping a lot better toward the end of this week without my Unisom which is great. My back has also stopped hurting at night and I am hoping that will last because I think that is why I'm sleeping so much better.

Pregnancy #2: 15 Weeks Pregnant

I was 15 weeks pregnant on November 14th.

The baby weighs about 2.5 oz measures 4 inches long and the legs out measure the arms.

According to thebump.com the baby is squirming a lot, but I can't feel it yet. We already new the baby moved a lot because of our first sonogram. Sometimes at night when I'm in bed I think I feel little nudges, but I'm not sure. All the joints and limbs are movable now as well.

I started this week off with a stomach bug that landed me with a horrible multi day headache. I have been taking half of a Unisom every few nights to help me get a good nights sleep. I still have really bad back pain at night. If I lay in bed during the day for a nap, no pain, but at night I do from the get go.

Pregnancy #2: 14 Weeks

I was 14 weeks pregnant on November 7th. We have officially entered the 2nd trimester!

According to thebump.com, the baby is 3.4 in long and weighs 1.5 oz, the weight has doubled in the last week.
The baby is probably sucking their thumb and wiggling their toes. The kidneys are making urine, and the liver and spleen are functioning. The baby is growing lanugo, a thin, peach-fuzz-like hair, all over their body, this will help keep them warm.

This week the morning sickness died down to just the late afternoon/evening normally between 4 and 6 pm. I'm not sleeping well either because my back hurts so bad. I didn't start going to the chiropractor with Emma until after 20 weeks, but I'm not sure I can make it that far this pregnancy.

At this point with Emma I was throwing up every morning, so there is that to be thankful for. You can see the 14 week post of my pregnancy with Emma here.

Pregnancy #2: The First Trimester

I decided to just do one big first trimester post instead of weekly posts. I will start weekly posts during the 2nd trimester.

3 Weeks 4 Days - August 27th
We found out 4 days earlier than expected, because I was folding laundry and just had a huge wave of nausea. I wouldn't have thought anything of it, except we were trying so I knew there was a possibility. I tested the next morning, Sunday, and it was positive. Very faint, but definitely positive.

4 Weeks - August 29th
This was a pretty good week with how I felt. Nausea off and on, but nothing major.

5 Weeks - September 5th
Still pretty good with how I felt. Nausea a little more severe, but not constant and no throwing up. My back started hurting while sleeping really bad. With Emma it didn't start hurting until closer to 24 weeks.

6 Weeks - September 12th
The nausea is starting to get bad. It is almost constant. The only thing that helps is food/carbs. I am craving sugar, I did not give in though. The headache is not worth it.

7 Weeks - September 19th
The nausea is pretty bad still, an all day thing. Still not throwing up. Very sore breasts. Major back ache. Some of my clothes are not fitting very well, but I know its just bloat. No weight gain yet.

8 Weeks - September 26th
Bad nausea still, a lot of bloat. The nausea gets worse at night, so between that and they exhaustion I am in bed around 8:00. Not sleeping well because of the back ache.

9 Weeks - October 3rd
We had our first midwife appointment this week and go to see the baby. Everything looked good. They did put me on low dose asprin to help prevent pre-eclampsia this time around. We are hoping with the 50lb weight loss, the healthy diet and the asprin I won't have the same issues. The nausea is still pretty bad. We went to a football game Friday night and I did not feel good at all. I also have started getting car sick. My Mom took Emma for the weekend and we went to Ikea, the car sickness was bad.

10 Weeks - October 10th
Still really nauseated. Food doesn't help much anymore. Nights are the worst which makes it hard to be a mom. The house is a wreck, but Bobby has really stepped up to get stuff done. I had one good day this week, but the rest were pretty bad.

11 Weeks - October 17thStill nauseated. I found that if I put my body pillow under my butt/hips while I sleep that helps eliminate a lot of the back ache. Emma has started waking up really early at the end of this week, which has not helped the exhaustion. I started taking 25mg of B6 3 times a day to help with the nausea. It hasn't helped yet so I am adding in Unisom and hoping that will help too. When you ask Emma if she wants a brother or a sister, she says she doesn't want a brother or a sister.  I felt movement this week, like the baby kicked off from one side and shot itself across to the other.

12 Weeks - October 24thI started taking Unisom before bed this week and what a difference it made on day 1. Minimal morning sickness on that day. I had a lot more energy too! As the week went on the unisom and B6 combo helped a lot in the morning but the afternoons/evenings were still pretty rough. The weekend got a lot better on the nausea front, however my energy level is still really low. On days 7 of this week, my nausea is back, not as bad as it has been, but not as great as it was over the weekend. Really hoping we are almost over this part. The headaches started this week as well, which are normal, but I have not taken Tylenol since I am on low dose Asprin to help prevent preeclampsia, so it has been pretty hard to deal with them.

13 Weeks - October 31st
This week started on Halloween day, which is a crazy day at work with students and a long night with trick or treating. The nausea finally started to let up this week, however I still have it from around 3 to 6 pm. The exhaustion is still sticking around as well. The bump showed up this week and a lot of my pants are starting to not fit most days. Still no weight gain which is good. Lots of movement this week, not major movement like at 11 weeks, but a lot of flutters and rolling especially at night. Looks like this baby will be keeping me up like Emma did.

October 2017

October has also been a pretty laid back month. With not feeling well with the pregnancy it has been hard to really go and do anything. We did go to the Pumpkin Patch which was fun. We started the month with Emma going to my moms for the weekend, I needed a little bit of a break with feeling so bad. She had a blast with Uncle Cameron and Aunt Emily.

She also got to go to another small Pumpkin Patch.

Out neighbors have this cat (they recently moved and Emma still looks for the cat all the time) that is super friendly and Emma loves to pet it.

Her room has been a disaster ever since we moved, mostly because we didn't have enough storage since she got her kitchen for her birthday. Since my mom had Emma for the weekend we went to Ikea to get a big shelf for storage.

It looks so much better all organized. it doesn't stay this way, because she only puts stuff away about half the time, but it is still so much better.
She has started twirling her hair like I used to do as a kid and she gets such bad knots. We have had to cut it once already.
One day we came home and she just wanted to hold my hand and watch Moana.
 Playing in dad's truck.
Bobby has been working on fixing our attic so we can actually store stuff up there and me be able to park in it. The goal is to have that done, plus renovate our master bath, and possibly the backyard deck before the baby comes in May. It is a huge to-do list.

 Watching TV with Daddy.
 Wearing his hat and glasses.

She asked me for a picture.
I am trying to decorate for the seasons now that we own our own home. We still haven't hung pictures, but I really like the look of the vases for fall!
Emma had Breast Cancer awareness week at school and she loved it!

They also got a lego table which has been a huge hit.
 Pajama day.

They learned about he life cycle of a pumpkin, while she wasn't really into cleaning it out, she has been all about the pumpkin seeds she go to bring home.
We carved a little pumpkin at home and she loved it as you can tell.

Some other randomness from the month.

We of course ended the month with Halloween. She got to wear her costume to school and they had a fun little party.

Trick or Treating has definitely changed a lot since we went when I was kid. Everyone in our neighborhood would give out candy. In today's times its every 4 or 5 house on a block. Emma was so tired after just one block from all the walking. She got a perfect amount of candy for her age (about 10 house probably over a two block walk), but I think next year we will go back to a Trunk or Treat like we did last year.
